Calvin Ho, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Recording Arts degree, said he would not have been able to complete his Record Label module without help from his classmates and friends at the Sound and Music Design Academy.
“I only had three weeks with my artist to complete the album and this would never have been possible without their help,” said Calvin.
The challenging Record Label module requires students to play the role typically played by a record label - which includes representing an artist, creating a portfolio and producing an album.
Calvin titled the album after his artist “Tasya Rickman” whom he said had all the makings of a top-selling artist, with her voice and mass appeal – particularly among male fans.
Overall, he drew inspiration from ballad albums from international artists like Sam Smith and Adele.
Personal Development
Calvin said he learned a lot from the project, especially in dealing with people to get something accomplished, and from the knowledge gained from his research.
Overall, he said he was also able to develop on a personal level over the course of the production of the album.
“Work smart and always be humble to others, be it juniors or seniors, and do your very best in all your assignments,” said Calvin.
He chose Limkokwing to further his studies after several recommendations from friends and relatives who spoke highly of the University’s prowess and proven track record in developing world-class graduates with creativity and innovation.
