Are you going to the Rainforest World Music Festival? Did you know that Sarawak has a lot more to offer for those with an adventurous spirit?

The Rainforest World Music Festival is an annual three-day event held at the Sarawak Cultural Village near the base of Mount Santubong. It brings together renowned world musicians from all continents and indigenous musicians to perform on the island of Borneo.

The festival also features interactive and educational workshops, ethno-musical lectures, jam sessions, and mini concerts. But once the music stops, there are other fun things to do.

Sarawak Cultural Village

The Sarawak Cultural Village will give you a glimpse of Borneo’s diverse traditional culture in one convenient location. This living museum lets you experience life as a local, and is a perfect introduction for first-time visitors.

Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre

If you are an animal lover, you can watch or volunteer to help at the Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre located within the boundaries of the Semenggoh Nature Reserve, which is approximately 24 km away from Kuching city.

The centre is home to semi wild orangutans as well as various other animal species that have been rescued. You will also learn about the importance of nature conservation and how you can play a greater part in helping Mother Nature.

Upside Down House Kuching

You can learn more about Sarawak’s rich past when it was known as a British Crown Colony, an occupied Japanese territory, and under the influences of the old Bruneian Empire.

If the outdoors is your calling, you won’t be disappointed by the number of activities available to choose from. From kayaking to backpacking, Sarawak will always have something to fill that niche in.
