Pola Kimena is from the striking and pristine Zambia. The country is home to the majestic Victoria Falls, which is the largest waterfall in the world.
“What I love about my country is how friendly the locals are. They tend to be really welcoming to both foreigners and locals. So I find that aspect of home to be a plus point. I also love the natural aspect of my country. We have a lot of national parks, so we get to see a lot of animals.”
He said he chose Malaysia as his study destination, because he has always been a fan of Asian culture. “I came to Malaysia in 2014. I love the country, because of its diversity and food.”

One thing that stands out for Pola is the multicultural environment of the University. “Previously I was in an international school and I still wanted to have that whole multicultural feel after high school. The fact that I still experience that makes me love Limkokwing University.”
“This University has also exposed me to amazing cultures that I had never even heard of, but have now come love.”
Pola acknowledged that the University provides him with the right platform which caters to his passion and hobbies.
Groundbreaking Teaching Methods
Pola Kimena is on his third semester of the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Industrial Design programme. He applauds the way students are given assignments and the support they get from lecturers.
“What I really like about my course is the fact that our lecturers help us tackle different issues that we are given in class on our own. They give us a hands-on type of work. We are not spoon fed, because we take lead in what we do.”
He said the method of teaching at Limkokwing is innovative and often mirrors what trends in the industry.
“Through its numerous events, to the creative approaches in which we tackle assignments in and out of class, this University has been able to keep me busy at all times, leaving no room for boredom.”
Pola highlighted two experiences that add on to an interesting learning environment at Limkokwing University.
“My two favourite experiences of being here is being part of the Student Ambassadors and the Limkokwing Dance Club. I really love the people I met through these clubs. In a way they helped me open up more as a person.”
Twenty-First Century Skills
“One of the main skills I picked up during the last two years was the ability to make illustrations using software and making 3D models using SOLIDWORKS and SolidCAD.”
He stated that back in Zambia not many people use the software that he learns through.
“Limkokwing has given me a plus, because if I happen to go back home I would have those skills as a starting point. I would have a vast advantage over my peers, because the University instilled me with skills the industry demands.”
