He received the PAM (Malaysian Institute of Architects) Academic Excellence Award for Excellence during the PAM Annual Architecture Students Works Exhibition 2016 that was held recently.

Family of Architects

Before he enrolled into Limkokwing University, he already knew what he wanted to do.

“I came from a family where everyone was in the construction business,” he said. “I already knew what I wanted to do and I chose to go through it.”

During his time in Malaysia, Mohammad has been involved in various architectural activities including competitions, exhibitions and contests.

“All I wanted was to create good work and good architecture, and get good reviews,” he added.

Getting Involved

“I have been very active the competitions, because I believe that competing with others helps you push yourself to your limits,” he said.

During his six year stay in Malaysia, he has been involved in several architectural activities.

Mohammad has been involved in sketch competitions, online publications and video presentations. He has also been working with professionals, which helped him to understand the architecture in greater detail.

Learn A Lot

Mohammad emphasised the importance of learning and adapting to new technologies.

“As architects, we are expected to know a lot of things,” he said while adding that these small bits of knowledge would help them with their designs.

Being an architect means being able to see different types of things and then compress it into a smaller forms of thoughts. This means conducting in extensive research and studies.

“We need to think of everything and summarise it,” he said. “We need to think about every single aspect of architecture.”

“When you prepare a set of drawings, it may look right, but when you apply it on the site, problems will appear.”

“This is why we need to look at issues that need to be resolved,” he advised. “You will need to able to identify objectives, hypotheses and solutions to meet industry standards.”

Experienced Lecturers

Mohammad describes Limkokwing University as a place that offered him the freedom to explore his creative potential.

According to him, the University’s lecturers are professionals with various background experience in the industry and education.

“These people have been involved the education industry as well as the industry of architecture.”

He explained that students can learn better from people with experience, because they can share their knowledge.

“It means that they really know what they are doing,” he added.
