Delphine Chung Qi, 19, is a proud Limkokwing student, currently studying for a Diploma in Architecture at the Cyberjaya campus.
Hailing from Sarawak, Delphine is a national air and sport pistol athlete who was awarded a full scholarship to complete her studies at Limkokwing University, a scholarship named after the founder and president himself, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Limkokwing.
“It has been my dream to study at Limkokwing University ever since I was a kid, and I was truly honoured when offered a full scholarship to enrol my studies there, and for that I would like to sincerely thank Tan Sri Limkokwing for making it possible,” said Delphine.
She said one other person also made it possible for her to be at Limkokwing today, and that is her father.
“A place in Limkokwing is like a dream come true, and I am very thankful to my dad for making it a reality,” said Delphine when met at the Bukit Jalil shooting range.
“I am thrilled and very happy to be in this University that’s filled with various nationalities and the multicultural environment here excites me as I believe it will play a role in improving my sport as well,” said Delphine.
Delphine also told us, “Be The Best” is her favourite slogan, among the many she has seen around campus, and its not a surprising choice for this young champion.
Passion for the range
Her love for shooting began at a very young age.
“Ever since I was a kid, I loved shooting and I still remember how I used to play shooting games in the computer and get so happy about it,” said Delphine.
“My parents and my grandmother were my biggest influence, not to forget they were and always will be my greatest supporters too.”
Architecture
Interest in building structures and having a dad who is a developer himself, were the core reasons of Delphine’s passion for architecture.
Delphine also recalled the days where her dad would bring her to construction sites which would leave her amazed.
Competitions
Of all the competitions that Delphine has participated, she was quick to say that the ISSF Junior World Championship held in Germany in 2015 was her best to date.
She was ranked 26th in the whole competition, with a total of 74 participants.
“Since I am Limkokwing student now, I would like to participate in World Championships, representing the University next year,” said Delphine.
Many talents
Delphine is a multi-talented young woman who sees life as an opportunity to explore new things.
Apart from shooting, she has an eye for photography and won 2nd prize in a Canon Photomarathon contest which was held in 2015.
“Photography is my hobby, especially capturing moments is what I love doing themost,” said Delphine.
She also loves drawing and has participated in several school level competitions in the past.
Delphine is also a 6th grade ballet dancer and was recently awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Royal Academy Dance for her involvement in the Graded Examination in Dance.
Her artistic desires seem endless as she has ventured into graphic designing, a way she expresses so many emotions in one picture.
She participated in several competitions, mainly in secondary school.
“Limkokwing University is certainly one of those institutions where it provides a person the access to mastering many skills and an excellent learning centre that prepares individuals for the real world and I am proud to be part of this University,” said Delphine.
