Limkokwing Fashion Club livened up the atmosphere at Publika Solaris Dutamas on 8 February during its open Chinese New Year celebration.
Limkokwing Vice President Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim kicked off the celebration with the tossing of the Yee Sang, a traditional Chinese dish that is symbolic of good luck, good health, prosperity and all things auspicious. Yee Sang comprises thin slices of pickled vegetables and other ingredients which are thoroughly mixed together by repeatedly tossing it into the air before eating. Each toss is accompanied by loud wishes for the New Year. It is believed that the higher the Yee Sang is tossed, the more luck and prosperity will come in the New Year. Guests of the celebration were also entertained with songs and music performances by Limkokwing students.
The Chinese New Year celebration was held in conjunction with the Limkokwing Fashion Club’s announcement of its participation in the 2017 London Fashion Week.
On 17 February, Limkokwing Fashion Club will bring “Rich Asian and African Cultural Elements” to Europe as they showcase their original designs during the London Fashion Week at the Freemasons’ Hall in London, UK. Limkokwing University is the only foreign university invited to participate in the London Fashion Week, something that no other university in the world has the honour of.
Limkokwing Fashion Club is the world’s first fashion label created by students for students. It was established four years ago and now has five stores, including one in Bali, Indonesia. For further information on Limkokwing Fashion Club, please visit www.fashionclub.my.
