From Martin Scorsese to George Lucas, these award-winning directors are proof that studying film and television will open an oasis of opportunities. Many programmes in this field are hands-on and will let you create your own original work. Ask alumnus Sheheryar Kazi, and he will tell you just that.
Sheheryar graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Digital Film & Television and pursued his Master’s degree in Digital Film and Television at Limkokwing University, Malaysia. After graduating, he founded Studio K, a platform that works with international clients and helps them with the postproduction of their projects for different platforms.
“My company’s vision is to create digital content that creates positive content for the youth and young generation of Pakistan. With that, we also cater to the needs of different clients and firms, providing them with a road map on how they should present themselves on digital and mainstream platforms.”
Sheheryar’s company has made quite the impact on his home country, Pakistan. How? Through social and political awareness in different organisations. “I covered stories, as a film journalist - stories that matter.”
“I recently co-directed and edited a music video by Eden James called Stranger,” he adds. “I loved the entire process of working with Eden. It was a phenomenal experience and the music video itself went on to win a dozen international film and music video festivals.”
When we asked Sheheryar about some of his favourite projects, he recalled making short films on Toxic Masculinity; Women Rights and the Ancient City of Rawalpindi. Besides winning film festivals and creating viral content, Sheheryar finds fulfilment in helping the kids in international schools to learn filmmaking.
“I see a lot of media houses here opened by people who have no experience or background with media or marketing. What I want to bring is not only a professional team of media personnel but a qualified team - a team of innovators, artists not just providing services but providing great ideas - ones that can bring a change.”
