Thousands throng nationwide for Nak Sihat (Get Healthy) Campaign

A reported number of 70,000 people from all over the country, majority of them youths recently joined in a healthy initiative Nak Sihat (Get Healthy) Campaign.
A reported number of 70,000 people from all over the country, majority of them youths recently joined in a healthy initiative Nak Sihat (Get Healthy) Campaign. It was designed to instill sports and physical activities in people’s daily routine as studies show how serious issues such as overweight and obesity being at 29.4 percent and 15.1 percent have been respectively dominating in the Malaysian population of late.
The campaign received National Level Launching in Precinct 2, Putrajaya by the Minister of Health, YB Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam and simultaneously throughout the country in another 11 locations. It was a follow up to the 10,000 Step Independence program, created by the Ministry of Health last year, which has since received recognition in the Malaysia Book of Records as The Most Participants for a Health Campaign Event with 156,409 participants in 92 locations.
Before the health campaign began, the Limkokwing University cheerleading group together with the choir assembled the crowd with their energetic moves and songs, gearing them up for a physical activity packed day.
Basketball lovers shot hoops and competed against each other in friendly matches whilst U-hop bouncy trampolines were used by the younger generation of kids. Participants also learnt about nutritious and healthy eating tips and received information on how to keep a balanced diet present of all food groups.
“At Limkokwing University we are very much fond of advocating on behalf of maintaining healthy lifestyles, and we are happy that Nak Sihat was a success through our efforts of encouraging it to the people,” said YM Dato’ Raja Aznil Raja Hisha, Senior Vice President Industrial Empowerment at Limkokwing University.
The campaign was the brainchild of President of Limkokwing University Tan Sri Dato Sri’ Dr. Limkokwing who found it necessary to introduce the program in order to increase community awareness and knowledge especially to youth about the importance of wellness and healthy activity.
