The Monster High and Limkokwing Against Bullying Competition has awarded Team Alpha consisting students (Sandirakala, Malaysia; Nurfarah Safiah, Malaysia; Nur Farah Atiqah, Malaysia, Abdullah Mohammed Ebrahim, Yemen) from Limkokwing University’s Faculty of Multimedia Creativity as the grand prize winner for their video to help stop bullying. The team emerged as a winner beating 30 other submissions for this competition.
The entries were judged by Limkokwing’s Associate Vice President for Talent & Creativity Development, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim; Brand Manager - Girls for Mattel Southeast Asia Pte Ltd, Kelly Yip; Star R.AGE Editor, Ian Yee; Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 and Limkokwing alumna, Nadine Ann Thomas; Songwriter and vocal coach at StART Society, Grace Sng.
The competition required Limkokwing students to design the most creative and impactful anti-bullying message in one of four formats; song, video, poster or photograph and t-shirt design. Team Alpha won themselves a chance of being a part of the Monster High Malaysia 2014 PR Campaign with certificates of achievement and also Monster High merchandise worth RM500.
This campaign is targeted at young teens aiming to increase their awareness of the anti-bullying act and for the public to take note of this issue which is becoming serious in Malaysia.
“It was great and we were quite surprised at the level of depth showed by some of the students’ work since they had only one month for this competition. Some of the videos that we saw were impactful. When you can create and bring out certain emotions from a person through a picture or a song, I think you have hit your goal,” spoke Nadine Ann.
Team Alpha says, “Firstly ‘Thank You’, this was unexpected. Our video is fully focused on the expressions of the bully victim. Through this competition we have learned working within a group, delivering the client’s message and producing the video itself. We thank Mattel’s Monster High and Limkokwing University for giving us such opportunity to be exposed to the industry. Lastly, ‘Be Yourself. Be Unique. Be a Monster’.”
