A new multimedia lab is currently undergoing construction at Limkokwing Swaziland, with an expected commission date of end October 2016.
The new lab will consist of 35 new HP desktop workstations for use by Limkokwing Swaziland’s students. It will be placed at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT).
Limkokwing Swaziland has also upgraded the campus’ Wi-Fi system to support the students in their everyday learning. The University has partnered with Touch IT to redesign its wireless hotspots so that each student will be able to log into the Wi-Fi automatically using just their student ID and password.
The new system will provide seamless connectivity throughout the campus using a dedicated 10Mbps fibre optic connection provided by Touch IT. Fibre lines are a significant step up over the old copper connection used on campus. The new fibre optic connection will allow more efficient transmission of data and will be immune to electromagnetic interference; thus operating at full bandwidth capacity. This translates to a better and faster Internet connection for the students.
Together with the currently existing multimedia labs, the addition of the new lab plus the Wi-Fi service upgrade will enable Limkokwing Swaziland’s students to have not only theory classes on the latest ICT knowledge with instant information, but also hands-on practical experience to acquire the latest ICT skills. The acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills complement and strengthen each other, hence improving the competency of Limkokwing graduates so that they are better prepared for the industry.
