Bridging Cultures: KIGS Brunei Students Complete Eye-Opening Global Campus Programme
8 May 2023
Discovering the world beyond borders, Brunei Kolej International Graduate School (KIGS) students embarked on a transformative journey at Limkokwing University's Global Campus Programme in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. With a rich tapestry of innovation, creativity, and cultural exchange, the two-week programme ignited passions and opened new doors for these ambitious young minds.
Enthusiasm and excitement filled the air as the KIGS students completed their Global Campus Programme at Limkokwing University’s Cyberjaya Campus at the end of March. The two-week programme provided the students with invaluable international exposure. It offered unique insights into the Malaysian education curriculum, focusing on innovation and creativity at Limkokwing University.
Upon receiving their Certificates of Achievement, the students were eager to share their experiences. James Vien Bonga Bonifacio, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student from the Philippines, expressed his admiration for Limkokwing University: “I did not know that Limkokwing University had so many accolades and achievements. It made me respect the university more, its intention on how it wants to impact the world and Malaysia.”
The Global Campus Programme was an eye-opening experience for James, who noted the contrast between life in Brunei and Malaysia. Attending the programme has helped him to understand different cultures and backgrounds. “It helped me realise there is a bigger world out there other than living in Brunei. Brunei is more conservative compared to Malaysia,” he added.
When asked if he would recommend the programme to other students, James quickly responded, “Yes. Limkokwing University is a creative university. It helps you express who you are. They encourage you to pursue your passion. Even if it seems unique, out of the box, that’s not a problem in this university.”
Dk Ummi NurAzila Azzayaty Binti Pg Hassanal Ali Saifuddin, a 23-year-old Bachelor of Communication in Digital Media student from Brunei Darussalam, also praised the Global Campus Programme. “It has provided us with many mentorships and given students opportunities to learn different industries through industrial talks, visits, and case studies,” she said.
Dk Ummi further emphasised the importance of the programme, saying, “I would recommend other students to attend this global campus as it’s a really eye-opening experience for us. This programme sparked my interest. It allows us to explore our field. It ignites and sparks my passion even more.”
The KIGS students’ visit to Limkokwing University has been a transformative experience, opening their minds to new possibilities and inspiring them to think creatively. As the students return to Brunei, they carry the lessons, experiences, and memories they have gained while at Limkokwing University’s Global Campus Programme.
Overall, the visit by the KIGS Brunei students to Limkokwing University was a resounding success. The programme gave the students unique opportunities to learn, grow, and expand their horizons. We look forward to seeing more students take advantage of this exceptional opportunity in the future.
