Limkokwing University and Commonwealth Youth Council eye global partnership to empower youth
5 October 2017
Limkokwing University has entered into talks with the Commonwealth Youth Council to collaborate on new initiatives to empower youth worldwide, specifically in responding to rapid technological change and global competition.
The Council was represented in the talks by Chairperson, Kishva Ambigapathy, and Secretariat Coordinator, Dhanesh Basil, who visited the Cyberjaya campus on 18 September 2017.
Upon arrival, they toured the Presidential Library which houses the history of the University’s major campaigns, projects and key events. The guests were particularly awed by the achievements of Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing and his efforts in nation-building.
They were also impressed with the initiatives previously undertaken by Limkokwing students from over 150 countries, including efforts to bring awareness to grief-stricken countries under the Heal the World campaign.
The Commonwealth Youth Council embodies youth councils and other youth-led bodies from the 52 Commonwealth member nations.
Its main role is to accelerate youth development agendas, tackling issues such as employment, equality and climate change.
The Council also promotes youth-led action on development challenges throughout the Commonwealth, which naturally ties in with Limkokwing University’s role as a global institution that instills social awareness of global issues among the youth of today.
