Global Classroom students in London took a one-day trip to visit the Kent countryside and historical sites such as Leeds Castle, Canterbury and the White Cliffs of Dover on 27 April.

The group’s first stop was the 894-year-old Leeds Castle. The castle, built by Robert de Crevecoeur in 1119 as a Norman stronghold was the property of many royals—including King Edward I and King Edward II—before it was opened to the public in 1976.

The students toured the castle grounds and gardens, including the Cascade, Wood, Culpeper and Lady Baillie gardens.

Other attractions include the famous spiraling yew maze that is made up of 2,400 yew trees.

After their tour of Leeds Castle, the group travelled to Canterbury, a historical English cathedral city.

The students also had the chance to see Canterbury Cathedral, Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion and seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

They got to see up close the gothic architecture design within the cathedral that was built in the year 597 and completely rebuilt between 1070 and 1077.

They concluded the trip with a visit to the White Cliffs of Dover, popularly known as the gateway to England.
