Machines can never replicate our creativity, communication and collaborative skills — the very areas that creative arts graduates specialise in. As growing fields that are propelled by the advancement of new technologies and online media, there are plenty of diverse career opportunities for Multimedia, Advertising and Broadcasting majors.
Abdul Hakim graduated from Limkokwing back in December 2017 and started his career with Media Prima, a local tv broadcast station. “I’ve worked with Media Prima for four years. In those four years, I’ve worked with three different departments in the same company.”
Starting off in the urban department where he produced urban Malay TV content, Hakim then moved on to mass TV content, which then led to his move to the Branded Content department. Here, he produced TV ads and branded campaigns.
Fast forward to four years later, Hakim now works with ZALORA as a Livestream Producer where he’s in charge of the shows for the company in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Philippines. ZALORA is a leading online fashion, beauty and lifestyle shopping platform, carrying local and international brands.
The company has one vision: to be the number one fashion and lifestyle destination in growth markets. “As for me, my mission is to help grow a successful platform that brands can leverage on for their growth and marketing as well as to eventually become one of the main pillars for Social Commerce within ZALORA.”
Hakim studied the Diploma in Multimedia, Advertising and Broadcasting programme. “In a modern broadcasting industry, to be a successful producer you need to have all of the 3 subjects mastered, once you’ve mastered it, you will know every limitation of what you can do and what you can’t do.”
Hakim shared a project he’s currently working on with us. “The most exciting project that I’m working on at the moment is the ZALORA birthday campaign and show.” It’s one of the biggest campaigns for the company. Additionally, he has also worked on shows involving some big brands such as Adidas, H&M, Nike and more.
Hakim was also involved in Anugerah Juara Lagu, the most prestigious award/ music competition show in Malaysia. “With all the limitations during the MCO, my team and I managed to make it happen. My other favourite project was E! News Malaysia. Never in a million years would I think I’d be doing E! News. Let alone producing and collaborating with E! News US.”
