Branding her name

Sales and services consultancy simply gels in with sassy and beautiful Duduetsang Moilwa, a 25-year old First National Bank of Botswana (FNB) employee.
Her typical working day entails helping customers to fill in request forms, explain what the information in these forms mean and what the requirements are.
The most fulfilling part of her job is approving the loans for her customers, clearing the way for them to purchase land, houses or commercial plots. Dudu said that Batswana understand the importance of living happy lives and “staying in your own home is one of the beautiful things about life.” The part of her job that makes Dudu enjoy her work the most is undoubtedly meeting the people’s needs.
Dudu says that since she started out at FNB, her perception of life has altered completely:
“I thought work was just a place where I am to get a pay cheque at the end of the month but as I had the opportunity of being a university ambassador, I know for a fact there is more to it.”
Dudu prides herself on doing excellent work that brings smiles to her customers’ faces. She goes home knowing that she has played a part in helping people achieve their dreams. This fills Dudu’s heart with delight and warmth as she knows she has brought new meaning to someone else’s life.
I thought work was just a place where I am to get a pay cheque at the end of the month but as I had the opportunity of being a university ambassador, I know for a fact there is more to it.
While at Limkokwing, Dudu says she studied to be a team player but was still able to stand out from the rest without compromising her integrity. She possessed the right attitude, and with her skills and more to gain on the way she knew she was destined for greatness.
“I know when to speak, to listen and to share. I have built my character and those around me see and benefit from it.”
After graduating with an Associate Degree in Advertising and prior to working with FNB, she was at Horizon Ogilvy & Mather where she was headhunted. She seized the opportunity to be part of the FNB family and started out as a Sales and Services Consultant in the FNB Property Division, doing credit consultation for residential properties.
“I have grown so much. Now, this was a big move. At times I must admit I felt inadequate but it was an experience I am happy I got. I was a coordinator for the merger between Pick ‘n Pay and FNBB, a great initiative that put banking convenience into perspective. This was true innovation at its best.”
It all happened so fast and all she wanted to do was put her best foot forward and give it her all and the rest followed.
Having the right attitude can take you wherever you go. People will always speak and they will never stop. All you can do is take the positive criticism, right the wrongs and step up, as the bigger picture is your canvas to practice the art of self-mastery.
Dudu believes that Limkokwing University gave her a chance to familiarize herself with an atmosphere of practicality. She is proud to have had a chance to be a part of it.
“Yes, the workload was overwhelming at times but I am grateful for the thick skin I developed because of it. It is a true testimony to me that nothing comes easy. My stay at Limkokwing was filled with ups and downs but my experiences paved my path to being my best now.”
Being a Sales and Services Consultant is a stepping stone in the right direction for her to start the climb on her career path and build her own brand.
Duduetsang also had words of encouragement for all young people who are getting ready to graduate:
“Having the right attitude can take you wherever you go. People will always speak and they will never stop. All you can do is take the positive criticism, right the wrongs and step up, as the bigger picture is your canvas to practice the art of self-mastery. Also pick your battles, as some are not yours to fight. Most of all, be firm and never compromise your standards. Have the right attitude and it will be a delight for anyone to train you for skill. Never forget to enjoy and find more ways to give those you serve a wowing experience they will want to come back for.”
