Batswana Students Graduate in Malaysia

Over fifty Batswana students recently graduated from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Cyberjaya Campus recently.

More Batswana students will be bringing international skills to the country, as over fifty Batswana students from various faculties recently completed their studies. The graduates were excited about the bright future and possibilities that await them back home, as they look forward to utilising the skills and knowledge they gained during their stay in Malaysia.

The graduation convocation was held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), and some of the Batswana Graduates received distinguished recognition for the efforts they had put in their studies. Zolile Harvey, and Information Technology graduate was awarded a Leadership Award for his dedication in achieving excellence, even though his journey wasn’t always a smooth one. The overjoyed graduate said: ‘My friend and I struggled to raise money for accommodation and airfare because we were not on full scholarship, but in the end it was all worth our effort’ He credited his dedicated perseverance to his grandmother, Thenjiwe Mnqibisa, who he thanked for raising him well, encouraging him well to study hard and instilling in him willpower to achieve his goals.

Another Motswana who got recognition for his efforts was Alfred Kale, who received an award for graduating at the top of his class in technology innovation, having shown high level of creativity and discipline in implementing ideas in innovative ways. Kale said it was time for the youth to engaged in the development of the country, and that he was ready to bring a positive change to his home-country.

‘Our parents invested a lot in us, so it’s time for us to shine and make them proud and bring them joy.’ he said.

He went on to thank Limkokwing University for the scholarship he had received, his mother and aunt Agnes and Hilda Kale respectively, and the Herero Cultural Group for their support.

Architectural Science graduate Kabo Seipato said on top of the knowledge and skills he had gained through his studies, he had also learnt a lot from the exposure of being in Malaysia, and he was well equipped to contribute to the improvement of Botswana. He said: ‘One thing I have learnt is that there aren’t many meaningful designs at home, and the four years that I lived in Malaysia opened my eyes to creative designs and infrastructure. I am therefore looking forward to going back to contribute to the development of my country.’

Tlotlo Molaletsi, a Graphic Design graduate, described his stay in Malaysia throughout the three years he spent here studying as ‘remarkable experience’. He said he had gained a great deal of experience through interacting with students from all over the world, and had found Limkokwing University’s approach to learning ‘very practical’.

He expressed his gratitude towards the Botswana government for giving him such a ‘lifetime opportunity’’, and said he was ready to go back to his job as a teacher and share what he has learnt with his students.
