He learnt about the struggle of trying to access finance through traditional institutions and it gave this gave him a chance to learn and understand the processes involved and windows of opportunities in the field.
“I’ve always wanted to be in a business that gives back to people. I like finance because it directly impacts family and individual incomes. The financial technologies are experiencing steady growth in the banking sector causing more investment opportunities in Uganda.”
On giving us a rundown of his work as a lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Finance, Joshua shares with us that his day to day involves organising, arranging lectures and making sure that his content and teaching materials fit the current trends that are happening in the financial services industries across the group.
“I’ve done research into the usage of digital technologies in Cyberjaya as a smart city. Currently I’m working on a research project on how the governments and countries are adapting into these digital technologies in the developing countries.”
Joshua shares with us that being in a multicultural environment gives him the opportunity to interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds, and it’s proven in the way he delivers his lectures to his students.
“I love giving my students the chance of exploring different environments. Whenever assignments are given, it gives them the opportunity to mingle with each other. They get a chance to learn about each other and their countries respectively, which is a very exciting way to learn.”
