Limkokwing University is soon to make international waves as it becomes the only international university in the world to showcase at one of the most prominent fashion weeks, Jakarta Fashion Week 2014. Its presence in Jakarta tops up its runway successes in some of the fashion capitals of the world, including Paris, London and Osaka, allowing its fashion students to make their journeys from classroom theories to mainstream fashion galore as they present their season’s trendy collections.

With a predominantly black edgy collection from Limkokwing Fashion Club, the world’s first fashion label created by a University and designed by students from all over 160 countries of the world, fashion lovers in Jakarta are to be left in awe by modern stylish essentials set off by a strong fusion of Islamic, Hindu, Chinese fashion textiles and cultural influences reflecting a Malaysian inspired collection. Global influence will be felt through runway music with captivating sounds from African percussion and drumming rhythms, modern edgy Western tunes together with rich and colourful Asian music.

Onlookers are to expect skilfully made designs created head to toe by students and alumni from Limkokwing University, adding visual interest to the runway with a collage of shimmering, glitzy, feminine flowing designs with sheer cutouts in beaded detailing; sleek, urban cropped tee’s assembled with heavily sequined leather jackets that would appeal most to feisty girls who love fashion and are not afraid to express themselves through it.

A multitude of media platforms from GoGirl Magazine, ELLE Magazine, Nylon, Joy , Femina, Gadis Ayahbunda, Pesona, Grazia, Estetica, Cita Cinta, CLEO and many more are to be energized by the young designers’ collections, offering them something to write home about.

Jakarta Fashion Week 2014 is set to attract notable attendees such as actresses Louise Anastasya, Laudia Cynthia Bella, Kimberly Ryder and Tyas Mirash; supermodels Rebecca Rejiman and Moudie Benhuppe; Editor in Chiefs for prominent magazines Adeline Juni Mewen for Elle Magazine; Intan Dian Sarwon for Her World; and Fashion Editor from Esquire Indonesia just to name a few.

“I am absolutely thrilled that my University is introducing Limkokwing Fashion Club at Jakarta Fashion Week 2014. What started off as a fashion show project by students every Thursday in campus for the past 2 years has finally made its mark, and what better place to make an international debut than my country Indonesia,” said ecstatic Merah Putih Club President I Putu Aditya Prabawa.

Limkokwing University through the Jakarta Fashion Week is delivering an unrivalled platform for new and emerging talent. It has over the years produced a luminous talent of Indonesian fashion designers, with the likes of Merlin Yuwita; Anita Cynthia; Stacia Andani; the only Indonesian to feature at Paris Fashion Week 2013, designer Harry Halim; recently featured in Forbes Indonesia, entrepreneur Cynthia Chaerunnisa; professional fashion photographer, Michael Cools; and Friederch Herman who is also showcasing in the Young Designers Category.

The University which has campuses in Jakarta and Bali has been providing education to Indonesian students for 20 years now, explaining its strong connection with the country.

“We show gratitude and passion for Indonesia being a part of us for ages. We have always strived to offer good education that puts our students at the front of the line for many opportunities in the industry and we are proud of their achievements, so we are happy to have them to prove their merit on such a platform,” said Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, Limkokwing University’s AVP for Talent and Brand Development, a graduate herself.

Limkokwing University has plans to open the Limkokwing Fashion brand driven by the Faculty of Fashion and Lifestyle Creativity soon in Indonesia.
